Dioxins

Dioxins are a group of hazardous chemicals that are formed as unwanted by-products during various industrial processes. They are composed of 75 different compounds known as polychlorinated dibenzodioxins (PCDDs). Dioxins are highly toxic and can cause serious health problems in humans and animals, including cancer, immune system disorders, and developmental issues. They are formed during the combustion of organic materials that contain chlorine, such as waste incineration, forest fires, and certain industrial processes. They can also be produced as by-products during chemical manufacturing and bleaching operations. Due to their toxicity, dioxins are considered to be a serious environmental and public health concern, and efforts are being made to reduce their production and exposure.
