WM Fitzgerald Skip Hire Navigate Waste Facility Permits

In accordance with Section 39 of the Waste Management Act 1996, as amended, a waste permit is required in order for any person or company to conduct the treatment/storage/recycling/recovery or disposal of waste.

Waste Facility Permit Application & Compliance

ECOS have worked with Fitzgerald Skip Hire to ensure that they have obtained the most suitable waste facility permit to meet the current and future needs of their skip hire and waste recovery & recycling business.

WM Fitzgerald SkipHire Limited operates a skip hire business which caters for both commercial and domestic markets. Under their waste collection permit (NWCPO-11-05667-04), Fitzgerald Skip Hire are authorised to collect and transport waste nationwide.

The skips are brought back to the Fitzgerald Skip Hire authorised waste facility (Current permit:  WFP/L/2021/11/002/01/R3) where waste is sorted into different waste streams, such that materials can be recovered and recycled.

The permitted activities at the waste facility are:

  • R3:  Recycling/reclamation of organic substances which are not used as solvents (including composting and other biological transformation processes
  • R4:  Recycling/reclamation of metals and metal compounds
  • R5:  Recycling/reclamation of other inorganic materials, which includes soil cleaning resulting in recovery of the soil and recycling of inorganic construction materials
  • R13:  Storage of waste pending any of the operations numbered R1to R12 (excluding temporary storage (being preliminary storage according to the definition of ‘collection’ in section 5(1)), pending collection, on the site where the waste is produced)”.

All waste arriving at the facility is inspected at the point of entry to the facility and subject to this inspection, weighed, documented and directed to the appropriate area/tipping point.

Each load of waste arriving at the appropriate area/tipping point, is inspected upon tipping.

When all inspections have been completed the waste is processed for recovery or subsequent disposal off-site.

Wastes which are authorised to be received at the Fitzgerald Skip Hire Waste Facility are as presented in Table 1:
